Paul Sywulka – Cancer Surgery October, 23rd

Paul Sywulka – Cancer Surgery October, 23rd

Pray for Paul’s Recovery from cancer surgery.

Dear Friends at Immanuel,

One of the Scripture verses that has recently stood out to us is Isaiah 26:12, “Lord, you will grant us peace, for all we have accomplished is really from you” (New Living Translation). We thank the Lord for His peace and for the truth that anything we accomplish is due to Him.

This year we have helped to host 9 teams at SETECA, as well as receiving other guests that have come to visit and help out.  It’s been a joy getting to know each other and sharing what God has done in our lives.  The groups have helped to paint, build cabinets, and sew various items for the Seminary.  They have also shared Bible stories and shown God’s love to children in churches and Christian ministries in Guatemala.  We thank God for what He has accomplished in and through them.

Currently Paul is teaching a course on Administration of Theological Education in SETECA’s doctoral program.  He has enjoyed interacting with the 8 students, who serve in Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, and the U.S.  One of them wrote recently, “I am grateful for how much I am learning and know it will be a great help in my current and future ministries.” We thank the Lord for what He is doing in their lives. Paul is scheduled to teach a similar course on the Master’s level in Cuba in December.

It’s a privilege to minister here, whether through teaching, facilitating development projects at the Seminary, hosting visiting professors, encouraging alumni, working with mission teams, helping to train seminary leaders, or counseling students.  Our prayer is that God is accomplish His work through us as we serve Him.

Paul was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.

  • We are grateful that the cancer seems to be contained.
  • He is scheduled for surgery Thursday, October 23 here in Guatemala.
  • We’ll appreciate your prayers for the surgery and the recovery process.

We trust that God’s peace will guard your hearts and ours, and that He will continue to accomplish His good work in and through each of us.

With gratitude for your partnership in our ministry,

Paul and Jean Sywulka
