I had the privilege to attend the Xenacoj New Testament dedication in Guatemala on September 20th. This NT dedication was special for me for a couple of reasons. 26 years ago this past September, I headed off to Guatemala with Wendy and a four month old son Jeffrey in order to teach at Christian Academy of Guatemala. Because I and the other middle school teacher were not able to arrive in Guatemala before school started, we had to make up school days by taking trips to various ministries. One of the first trips we made was to the village of Xenacoj.
Over the years, I also had the privilege to teach all four children of Tim and Louise Carey, Wycliffe Translator for the Xenacoj Cakchiquel NT. After leaving Guatemala in 2002 and starting to work in project funding, I was able to serve the Careys for nearly 12 years while the Xenacoj NT project was receiving project funding.
I’m attaching the Carey’s latest newsletter sharing news of the Xenacoj NT dedication. Please take some time and read the letter as I believe you will be encouraged.
Thank you again for being a part of our lives, given to our ministry with Wycliffe, praying for us, and being friends.
