The following response to reported Christian Persecution in S.E. Asia was received from Andy Tillman, an IBC Missionary friend, ministering in Davao City in the Southern Philippines:
“I haven’t heard about this martyr, but it might be very fresh that it hasn’t come down the “worker” communications line yet. This is in Mindanao and is probably out WEST of us. It is definitely in a context where there is a physical church (with a building) in a community that has 60% M and 40% (Evangelical/Catholic/Christian). The workers that we partner with would not have a building, but rather, be working in the paradigm of home fellowships in order to empower M Believers in formulating their own “living out” of the Gospel in hopes to seeing the Gospel permeate their M communities. This murder is obviously very upsetting and a very sad situation for this local church.”
“Please also be praying for our two partners out WEST (our “P and T” Teams). They live in constant stress and possibility of persecution. Yesterday I met with “T” Leader, and he shared with me that presently he had had to “let go” of one community that he had been visiting. There are M Believers there that he had been meeting with. I assured him that Jesus is the “owner” of those souls. When we talk about DMMs, we know that Movements happen when people choose to stand up by the power of the Spirit. The “P” team is a long standing org that has recently come to me asking for “coaching” as they redirect their work to be in line with DMM principles. This is a huge answer to our prayers. We have been asking the Lord for new partners with that “Holy Discontent,” desiring to dream and see what the Lord would choose to do in our M communities here in the Philippines.”
Additionally, Andy is requesting prayer for an additional ministry opportunity:
“Please be praying for my trip north of Manila (Jan 24-28) doing a 3 day workshop with an organization working with another minority Filipino group. I will leading them in looking at CPM/DMM (Disciple Making Movements) passages in the word.”
Thank you again for your partnership.
Wassalam (Peace)….Andy (Tillman)
…so all may hear, know and experience the Lord…
